Meet the Team at Noughts & Crosses
The humans may own the mortgage, but everyone knows who really runs the farm
Welcome to Noughts & Crosses, a small family-run farm stay in the heart of the Margaret River region. When you visit, you're likely to be greeted by enthusiastic paws, curious chickens, supervising dachshunds, and the occasional cat who believes the entire property belongs to them.
Meet the team who make life on the farm a little more interesting.
Asher
Chief Executive Border Collie

Head of Guest Relations & Wildlife Management
If you're staying with us, Asher will probably be the first to welcome you. She firmly believes every visitor arrives specifically to see her and takes her hosting duties very seriously.
Her responsibilities include:

The newest member of the management team.

Kaye
The Clydesdale

Creator, Problem Solver & Keeper of the Farm
Behind every project at Noughts & Crosses is usually Kaye.
Whether she's building something, fixing something, planting a garden, preserving a harvest, writing a blog, or tackling a completely new challenge, she approaches life with the same philosophy: if it needs doing, work out how to do it and get started.
While many people have a five-year plan, Kaye tends to have five projects underway at once. She enjoys learning new skills, solving problems, and quietly working behind the scenes to support and empower those around her.
Often described by Sean as "a Clydesdale," she has an incredible capacity for hard work and determination. The only challenge is that, unlike most people, her battery doesn't come with a warning light.
As Sean likes to say:
"Most people get a low battery warning. Kaye just suddenly stops working."
At the heart of it all is a desire to create a place where family, guests, animals, gardens, and good food come together to tell a story of simple country living.
Known for:
-
Turning ideas into action
-
Learning new skills
-
Growing and preserving food
-
Tackling almost any project
-
Supporting others behind the scenes
-
Working until the battery suddenly runs out
Favourite saying: "We'll work it out."
Sean
The Anchor

Project Manager, Encourager & Keeper of Perspective
Every farm needs someone who keeps everyone moving in the same direction.
Sean is the calm centre of Noughts & Crosses. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, he has a remarkable ability to bring people together and help them see the bigger picture.
While projects, gardens, animals, guests, and ideas swirl around him, Sean provides wisdom, encouragement, humour, and perspective. He is often the voice of reason, the thoughtful planner, and the person quietly helping others succeed.
Known for his quick wit, gracious nature, and strong work ethic, Sean is happiest when supporting family, helping others, and contributing wherever he can.
Many people notice the gardens, animals, and accommodation first. Those who spend a little longer soon realise that Sean is the glue that holds much of it all together.
Known for:
-
Wisdom and perspective
-
Encouraging others
-
Bringing people together
-
Finding humour in every situation
-
Quiet leadership
-
Being the steady hand when life gets busy

Supporting Staff
Not officially on payroll, but essential to the smooth operation of the farm.

Because every farm has a few unforgettable characters...
🦆 Bubbles
Duck Relations Officer
Raised in an incubator and convinced Kaye was her mother, Bubbles is now a respected member of the duck community and occasional local celebrity.
🐓 Larry
Head of Poultry Security
Protector of the hens, defender against eagles, and the most handsome rooster in Metricup.
🚜 Frank
Heavy Lifting Department
The fearless John Deere who works in rain, mud, and long grass without ever asking for a day off.
Sarah
The Dreamer

Creative Planner, Animal Whisperer & Champion of Possibility
Every family has someone who sees the world a little differently.
Blessed with an extraordinary imagination and a deep love for animals and nature, Sarah has a remarkable ability to see possibilities where others see obstacles. She is often the first to imagine what a new project could become, helping shape ideas and bring creativity to the farm.
The animals seem to recognise her gentle spirit. While most people train animals, Sarah somehow manages to build friendships with them.
Living with Myasthenia Gravis has taught Sarah resilience, courage, and determination. Yet rather than focusing on limitations, she chooses to focus on possibilities.
Her philosophy is simple:
"Why focus on what you can't do when you can at least try?"
Sarah reminds us that strength isn't always measured by physical ability. Sometimes it is found in kindness, perseverance, hope, and the courage to keep dreaming.
Known for:
-
Seeing possibilities everywhere
-
Growing beautiful flowers
-
Forming friendships with animals
-
Inspiring others to dream bigger
